Without our corporate funders, the progress and successes in which Business Against Crime has participated would not have been possible. Our challenge to business, regardless of the size of operation or sector in which you operate, is not to view Business Against Crime as a corporate social investment initiative, but as a vital business intervention to ensure a safe and secure South Africa showing improved economic growth and prosperity. It is only through this approach that we will make a significant impact in the fight against crime. At Business Against Crime we have committed the focus of our energies and resources to projects which add to the primary objective of reducing crime. We believe that business as a whole has the expertise, and can offer sound management advice to support the criminal justice system in improving its efficiency, thereby creating an effective deterrent to crime in our country. Your organisation can be involved through core funding or project finding or by seconding expertise to Business Against Crime to assist in improving the efficacy of the criminal justice system. Our aim is to support and partner Government in combating crime and the causes thereof. In addition to the ultimate benefit that funders will derive from participation through Business Against Crime in our endeavours to ensure business survival and growth, Business Against Crime offers funders information and feedback in a bi-monthly newsletter, mention in the Business Against Crime Annual Report on the Business Against Crime South Africa website as well as tax deductibility benefits for funding. For more information in this regard, please e-mail info@bac.org.za. Funding of Business Against Crime and its projects represents an opportunity for South African businesses to participate in the fight against crime in a well organised and directed manner. Business Against Crime has increasingly worked on strengthening public private partnerships that produce real value in the fight against crime. In July 2004, the Presidency referred the relationship between Government and Business Against Crime as “A unique and exemplary public / private sector partnership”. Business, which is severely impacted by crime, is in a position to assist in improving the effective operation and management of the Criminal Justice System. Through a single, focused initiative that is supported at all levels in Government, Business Against Crime produces results. Unfortunately, individual efforts can often become fragmented and ineffective. To ensure the achievements become sustainable and are applied nationally, Business Against Crime requires funding assistance from the business sector. A safe and secure South Africa is fundamental to the future of us all. Business Against Crime is an enabling mechanism for your participation in an
business led programme. Your support of Business Against Crime will provide the collective muscle that our country needs to fight crime. We would like to thank the following funders for their continued support in 2008:
Business Against Crime, being focused on delivery and adding value, is fully committed to providing detailed status reports on the various projects to funders upon request. |
